        The purpose of this web site is to introduce the benefits of  Insulated Concrete Forms (ICF) to North Georgia.  ICF's are basically 2 pieces of expanded polystyrene foam connected together.  Concrete and rebar go in the center to create an insulated, airtight, hurricane, tornado, and fire resistant, strong concrete wall.  ICF's are popular in states with extreme weather like Florida, Louisiana, Texas, and extreme cold climates in northern US and Canada.  The cost of an ICF house adds on average about 5% to 10% to total cost. For commercial construction, using Nudura can actually save money by reducing labor cost and construction time.  Nudura homes are highly efficient and have the Energy Star Seal.  Nudura homes will quickly recover added construction cost thru savings on heating and cooling bills.

  2. Mold & Mildew - Nothing ruins a perfectly good basement like mold or mildew.   3. Strength - concrete's strength is its ability to withstand the test of time. Since Rome, the strength of concrete has been evident. Today concrete is used for foundations, bridges, buildings, and other various construction.  So how does a ICF benefit concrete? The ICF protects the concrete from the elements which allows the concrete to cure evenly for a stronger wall.  Nudura ICF's protect so well, you can pour a wall even when it is below freezing. 

  4. Fire protection -  Nudura ICF's are manufactured with a fire retardant. When combined with concrete, you have an effective fire barrier. ICF's are perfect for apartment firewalls, condominiums and duplexes.  The benefit of minimizing the spread of fire will reduce your fire insurance as well as protect your investment.  This product is also good if your house is in a wooded area.  With proper planning, your house will survive a forest fire.

Sound resistance - This benefit alone might be worth the 5% extra if you live in a noisy area.  Lawnmowers, motorcycles, hot rods, kids, dogs, aircraft and of course the car with a booming stereo all come to mind.  Nudura construction is a natural barrier to sound.  If you value peace and quite, Nudura is the way to go.  ICF construction has been used for movie theaters and media rooms to keep sound in. Sound resistance is a benefit that will keep your world inside a place of peace.  

  7. Cost - consider this the ultimate upgrade. For 5% more, your house will have all the benefits listed above and then some. 5% more is affordable for all, not just the rich.  When building the house of your dreams, you want it to last, protect your family and resist fire. With ICF construction you have all this and more. The life expectancy of an ICF construction could be over 500 years.  Your investment today could benefit your family for generations to come.  

Note - I used 5% as an average.  With the price of lumber constantly changing, Its hard to say how much the difference for Nudura construction will cost. I do know that commercial builders can save money with Nudura by reducing the cost of labor and construction time. Homebuilders can also save money by reduced labor and construction time.
